Throughout all of her whole two years of service, Noel could never quite understand Captain Hazama. To her defense, she was not alone; to put it simply, he was a strange man in more ways than one. There were those who held a certain fascination of him from a distance... others turned their heel when they caught sight of him. A controversial individual, indeed.
And Noel, a simple, lowly lieutenant, had somehow found herself involved with him in ways that could probably get herself fired.
It's no surprise, then, after surveying the mess of a desk, that she would react so poorly to those words. Well, not poor, per se, but after such a slow day the lieutenant wasn't ready for such forwardness. If that's what he was referring to, anyway.
Noel blinked a few times, as if attempting to blink back the growing heat spreading across her features and failing miserably. Hazama was hard to read, to be sure. Noel couldn't help but wonder if, maybe, that's not what he meant at all. Maybe, even, he only worded it in such a way to garner a reaction from her. Of course! She was onto him.
"L-Let's see, um..." Noel stammered out the words. This was the sort of thing where she had to think quick, lest she made a bigger fool out of herself. What was on the agenda today?
"Oh, of course!" She nodded to him, regaining her momentary loss-of-good-posture and attempting to keep the conversation semi-professional. "I've heard that the Intelligence Department has been helping the new officers get settled. Do..."

She shifted nervously from her spot.
"Do you require any assistance?"
